The Year is coming to an end and what better way to see it out with a General Public Christmas party at the White Post Cafe in Hackney Wick. We would like to give a really big warm welcome this year to Going Good records head; Brian Not Brian along with Danielle (Phonica Recs / Brstl).
Brian started out as a staunch Hip Hop and Jungle head in what was then very troubled Belfast during the 80’s. Growing up around extreme violence Brian found solace in music and associated him self with people on the fringes of social norms. At the beginning of his musical journey he ignored his family’s dancer records kicking around the house in favour of taping show’s off the tv and radio such as In The jungle, Westwood, Essential Mixes, YO!, MTV Raps and The Dance Zone these recordings were then shared at his local hang out between friends. Said exchanges of tapes Cemented his eclectic appreciation of music at a young age, something that we can hear in the material he puts out today. It would only be a couple of years later that his ears pricked up to a more four four side of dance music.
Fast Forward a few years and you can now find him kicking it in Brixton manning the ship of his own label; Going Good Records AKA GGHQ. The label puts out left field dance tracks that are making waves and hitting the clubs hard. Brian also hosts his very own monthly Going Good show on the rapidly expanding Balamii Radio, situated in the heart of Peckham. Expect this man to pull no punches this christmas, a mulled musical wine of genre bending selections picked to fit the General Public dance floor and We can’t wait!

Also joining us in December is Danielle, one part of the Brstl crew. Born and raised in London town, now residing in Bristol (funnily enough). Illustrator, collector and record shop manner. Danielle brings the heat with her unique and carefully selected gems of house, disco, afro beat and reggae just how we like it…diverse. Pulling from a back catalogue of records that have past through Phonica Records as well as pinching a few from her dads collection. I have had the pleasure of not only buying tunes off Danielle but also warming up for her at last summers Varkala Festival, and boy did she tear the house down. Danielle also dropped a Noonday mix of pure fire for Ransom Note back in July.
